The new re-designed cartridges have an asterix included on the label on the spine of the cartridge for identification purposes.
The “ink low” communication has changed due to the discontinuation in production of a component currently used within some ink cartridges that are compatible with select printers. To enable customers to continue to benefit from using Epson genuine ink cartridges in these printers, Epson has re-designed the cartridge. This has resulted in some changes to the status monitor communications.
Impacted cartridges will no longer show low ink warnings in the status monitor. However, ink levels can be checked and monitored via the graphic display in the status monitor.
When the ink cartridge needs replacing, you may see the following message in the status monitor: “Ink cartridge cannot be recognised”. At this point the cartridge should be replaced in the normal way.

The page yield from the majority of ink cartridges impacted by this change, remains the same.
For ink families T071 Cheetah, T089 Monkey and T128 Fox, the page yield has reduced for some of the ink cartridges, when used together with certain printer models. For the impacted cartridges, Epson has reduced Recommended Retail Prices accordingly, so that customers are not disadvantaged.
Details of page yields can be found on the following link www.epson.eu/pageyield.
Depending on the specific cartridge, the re-designed version has either the same or more ink within the cartridge, compared to its predecessor. Where cartridges contain more ink, this is required as a safety measure to protect your printer and in these instances does not provide additional printable pages.
There is no change to the quality of Epson ink. You will still be able to enjoy the high quality, high reliability of Epson genuine ink.
