My Epson software installation is interrupted or hangs
- Disabling antivirus software
- Installing Epson software
- Window 10, Windows 8, Windows 7
One factor that can interrupt or cause a software installation to freeze is the antivirus software that may be running in the background on your computer. Epson recommends temporarily disabling all antivirus software during software installations, but you should re-enable the antivirus software once the installation is complete to protect your computer against viruses and other harmful malware.

Due to software differences, Epson are unable to provide specific details for disabling and enabling commercially available antivirus software. For more detailed information on changing the settings of your antivirus software or software firewall, please visit the manufacturer's website. It is the customer's responsibility to assess the risk before changing antivirus software or firewall settings. Epson cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from changing the settings. |
Some general guidance is provided below:
- Right-click on your antivirus software icon in the system tray of your desktop (located in the bottom right corner of your screen), click the option for disable or stop.
- Run installation for your software until complete, if you receive any messages advising the computer has blocked an Epson application, select Allow or Unblock.
Note:
Check the details of the notification. Epson software is manufactured by 'SEIKO EPSON CORPORATION'. Manufacturers of third party software commonly bundled with Epson products include Abbyy, Adobe, ArcSoft, Lasersoft, Mirage (Dinax), Newsoft Inc, and X-Rite.
- Now restart your computer.
- Right-click on the antivirus icon in the system tray and click enable or start.
In some cases you may not have an option for disabling or enabling your software from the system tray icon so will need to open the program and disable or enable from the menu in this screen.
If this does not resolve your issue, try the following suggestions:
- Make sure you are installing the latest version of the Epson software.
- Disable any startup programs running on your computer. For instructions on doing this, see How to use the System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) in Windows.
